Maurice H. Tugby, CPA, was graduated from Washington State University with a degree in accounting and a commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the U. S. Army. He then served 2 years in the U. S. Army Signal Corps including special assignments auditing inventories in addition to his regular Signal Corps duties.

Maurice entered private accounting upon his honorable discharge from the army. He was in private accounting work (real estate, cost accounting, trust accounting, and other accounting work) for 18 years. He passed the certified public accounting examination, secured his CPA certificate, and later decided to enter public accounting.

He has been in public accounting work for 28 years and was a partner in an accounting firm and later a major stockholder in a Seattle CPA firm. He sold his stock in that firm in 1992 and was immediately hired by the accounting firm of Greenwood, Ohlund & Co. LLP CPAs in Ballard where he continues to serve many clients. This accounting firm was founded in 1971 and has built a good reputation by providing clients with outstanding professional services at a fair price.

Maurice concentrates on service to businesses and organizations with preparation of financial statements, preparation of federal and state income tax returns, tax planning and consultation for businesses. He has also assisted many new businesses in setting up their accounting systems.

He has conducted business and tax seminars for the Small Business Administration, the Everett School District (Community Services) and several other organizations. He was an instructor of Accounting for Small Business at North Seattle Community College (Continuing Education Department) for several years. He is the author of a book - Basic Accounting and Taxes (For State of Washington Businesses).

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Society of Tax Professionals.

Maurice is active in the community, having served as club president and district secretary for Rotary International, and currently, as district audit and accounting chairman. He has also served as council camping chairman for the Boy Scouts of America, and on the strategic planning committee and as Senior Warden for his church.
